Like the setting for a summer holiday, Locks Ride Recreation Ground has a play area with sand, water, hammocks and palm trees.
The Play Area
Much of the play equipment is built over sand and includes:
The Beach Area The beach area has hammocks, picnic tables and barbecues that must be pre-booked. The Cafe The Splash Pad This has jets of water and overhead buckets that gradually fill with water and then suddenly spill down onto the people below. 
Beside the play area is a multi-gym, two football pitches, a cricket pitch and a pavilion.
There is also a cafe that serves ice creams and refreshments.
The Locks Ride Splash Pad is open from mid-May to mid-September. It’s lots of fun, especially on a hot day but can be very busy.
