From the top of Holmbury Hill you can see London’s towers, Gatwick Airport, the South Downs and even the glistening sea. It’s only a five minute walk from the car park so easy to bring a picnic!

 

The Hill Fort

Holmbury Hill in The Hurtwood, Peaslake, Surrey HillsThe Hill Fort was built at some time between about 100 BC and 100 AD during the Iron Age. It had ramparts with ditches of up to 4m deep and 9m wide!

The Paths

Holmbury Hill in The Hurtwood, Peaslake, Surrey HillsThe main paths around The Hurtwood are broad and easy to walk on but this is a hilly area. Some of the side paths are rougher and have steep slopes – this area is used by off-road cyclists.
