As soon as we arrived at Wisley’s Christmas Glow, we knew we were beginning a Christmas tradition. The gardens were open late and we arrived after dark. Everywhere was pitch black except for the trails of fairy lights, illuminated trees, glowing reflections and massive flower sculptures, which included a huge mistletoe archway, floating lotus flowers, clusters of daffodils and flowers that change colour at the click of a button. I have never seen anything like it. The atmosphere was magical and for the first time this year, I found my Christmas spirit.
We had been concerned that the children might be scared of the darkness. In fact, they were happy to run around exploring. They particularly liked the flowers you could turn on and off, the electric blue waterfall and the fairy light trails you follow.
We wrote this after visiting in December 2016. The gardens were busy but did not feel crowded. The car park was very busy but there were staff on hand to guide us we quickly found a space near the entrance. We visited for free as we have RHS membership so for us this was great value. It took us an hour to walk around, which may have felt a little short if we were paying the full entry price.
Christmas Glow is a seasonal, Christmas event but please visit this page to read more about our visits to RHS Garden Wisley during the year.
