Shortheath Common is a Local Nature Reserve with woodland, heathland, a pond, and a play area. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including ducks, 23 different types of dragonfly and endangered crickets that sing between May and August.
The Paths There are several different paths and they are not surfaced. Some have areas of deep sand and others of deep mud. This picture is not the pond…it’s the path. For us this just adds to the fun but be careful with footwear and buggy choices. Oakhanger Play Area There is a lovely play area on the edge of Shortheath Common called Oakhanger Play Area. You can walk there from the Shortheath Common car park or you can drive to the play area and access Shortheath Common from there (GU35 9JN).
