Broadwater Park’s sandy play area is by a lake, so when you have finished playing you can go for a walk, feed the ducks and have a picnic. 

 

Broadwater Park Play Area

The play area is for children to the age of 14 years old.

The equipment for younger children includes:

  • a multiplay and slide a bridge
  • a wooden climbing frame with a slide
  • a wooden play house 
  • a sand pit with sand play equipment and mushrooms
  • a play house with seats and puzzle boards
  • a Simon says machine
  • toddler swings
  • a springer seesaw
  • a car and motorbike springer
  • a spinning cup.

 

The play equipment for older children includes:

  • a climbing frame with bars and a climbing wall
  • a spinning ring
  • equipment to balance on
  • swings.

Land Ahoy! Obelisk Lawn Play Area has a shipwreck theme with all things nautical – ships, rigging, sand and a crow’s nest. It’s an atmospheric but small play area next to Adventure Play and within easy reach of Virginia Water and The Valley Gardens.

The Play Area

Obelisk Lawn Play Area in Virginia Water and the Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park, SurreyIf you walk past the totem pole towards The Savill Garden, you will find the Obelisk Lawn Play Area. This has a sunken ship and equipment for children aged 2 to 9 years old.

There are several cafes around the gardens to buy coffee and snacks.

 

 

 

 

The Paths

Virginia Water and the Valley GardensThere are lots of walking routes to choose from. Each pass different features on a variety of surfaces – some paths are flat and well surfaced, others are muddy but flat and others are rugged and bumpy.

A pirate ship has run aground at California Country Park! Its crew – a parrot, an owl and an octopus wearing a Jolly Roger eyepatch – man the decks but don’t seem to have noticed that the rocks have torn a hole in the hull, revealing the treasure they’ve hidden inside.

Parking: There are two car parks both of which are on Folly Hill – the main car park is near Farnham Castle (GU9 0AU) and the second, smaller car park is called Farnham Park Rangers Car Park and is a little further up Folly Hill (with Farnham and Farnham Castle behind you) and on the right.

The Wildlife

Elvetham Heath Nature ReserveWe saw plenty of wildlife – ducks, Canada geese, beetles, squirrels, birds, caterpillars, butterflies.

We also saw the grazing cows, which wander freely.

 

 

 

The M3

Elvetham Heath Nature ReserveThe M3 motorway rumbles along the side of the reserve. It is not the most peaceful place we have been to but we found that the noise soon faded into the background.

Post Haste Play Area in Elvetham Heath, HampshirePost Haste Play Area is on the edge of Elvetham Heath nature reserve and has a wagon multiplay and some swings. 

 

 

 

Choice of Walks

From the Elvetham Heath Gate and Post Haste Play Area you have a couple of walks to choose from. 

 

A Second Play Area

Twyford Close Play Area in Elvetham Heath, HampshireTurn left out of the play area and onto the path that runs along the heath. This will eventually come to the Twyford Close Play Area.

This takes about ten minutes at an adult pace and can be cycled or scootered.

 

 

Finding the Duck Pond
