Chinooks thumping overhead were all part of the fun when we visited Odiham Recreation Ground. RAF Odiham is nearby and helicopters were regularly taking off.

 

Recreation Ground, OdihamThe play area’s equipment includes:

  • a multi-play with slide, bridge and mirror
  • a butterfly springer
  • hopscotch markings
  • a wooden balance course with a tightrope, wobbly logs, dangling rings, log stumps, a climbing wall and net
  • a picnic table.

 

There is also a football pitch, basketball court and netball courts.

Millenium Playground is a small but well-equipped play area near to the River Tillingbourne and in the Surrey Hills. This is a good play area to go to after visiting one of the the local pubs but does not have its own car park.

To the right of the car park is a pirate ship in a sand pit, complete with a pulley and chute system, an anchor, and a ship’s wheel. There are also:

  • multi-use games area with a basketball net and football goal

The Park a beautiful place to leave behind the hectic pace of South London and step into a peaceful country estate with a watermill, city farm, wetland boardwalk, and gorgeous river. It is also within walking distance of Deen City Farm, a free-entry farm.

Morden Hall Park Boardwalk and Pond Dipping (National Trust)The other is the Storyboat – a wooden boat surrounded by wooden sculptures of an eel, a beetle, a vole, a trout and a dragonfly.

It can be used for free play or a chasing game suggested on one of the boards called ‘Eels Out’.
